Lotte Verbeek

 Born in Holland, Lotte professionally trained at the Amsterdam Academy of Dramatic Arts, as well as at the Amsterdam Academy of Jazz/Musical Theatre and Dance. During her training at the Academy of Dramatic Arts, she was cast as the lead in the television drama series, MOES. 

In 2007, she won her first leading role in a feature film, LEFT, in which she played five different characters. The film was awarded a Silver Melies in Sweden. In 2009, she earned a European Academy Award Best Actress nomination for her performance in NOHTING PERSONAL opposite Stephen Rea. In addition, she was also chosen as one of Europe’s Shooting Stars, won the Best Actress Award at the International Film Festivals of Locarno and Marrakech, and was nominated for the National Dutch Film Award, the Golden Calf, for Best Actress. She subsequently won the Best Actress Award at the Monte Carlo TV Film Festival for her work in Italian miniseries THE QUEENS OF SWING. 

In the highly acclaimed Showtime television series THE BORGIAS, Lotte played the ravishing mistress of the Pope as ‘Giulia Farnese.’ Receiving high praise for her performance on the series, Lotte continued her success by starring in Mike Figgi’s psychological thriller, SUSUPENSION OF DISBELIEF, playing dual roles ‘Therese’ and ‘Angelique.’ Premiering at the 2012 Rome Film Festival, the film earned her a nomination for the CinemaXXI Award. 

In 2014, after shooting a role in the positively reviewed Marco Van Geffen-directed feature IN YOUR NAME, Lotte booked a role in the international hit THE FAULT IN OUR STARS. The Fox 2000 feature opened at number one at the box office and grossed over $200 million worldwide. Lotte proceeded to book roles in ENTERTAINMENT opposite John C.Reilly and Michael Cera, which premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, and THELAST WITCH HUNTER opposite Vin Diesel for Lionsgate.

Lotte continues her already successful television career with recurring appearances on a number of hit shows: NBC’s THE BLACKLIST (as the love interest of ‘Red’/James Spader); the STARZ series COUNTERPART, starring J.K. Simmons (in the pivotal role of ‘The Ringleader’); and perhaps most notably, on the critically-acclaimed STARZ hit series OUTLANDER (as the sexy and mysterious ‘Geillis Duncan’),completing her third season on the show. She wrapped up 2017 by shooting the leading role in the independent film BOOK OF VISION for director Carlo Hintermann and executive producer Terence Malick as well as the Cold War thriller THE COLDEST GAME, starring alongside Bill Pullman. 

Lotte is based in Amsterdam. She is in fluent in French, Italian, Dutch, English, and German as well as being impeccably versed in accents such as British RP, Irish, US Mid-western, US southern, Scottish and Gaelic (used in OUTLANDER). Lotte has her US Green card and SAG-AFTRA card.
